Image Upload Problem In Wordpress 2.5

I bet most of you have alraedy upgrade to wordpress 2.5.1. Are there any errors or bugs you found when using it? Most of the time, I am using FTP for photo uploading. Today, one of my theme users told me about the problem in uploading photo using wp-admin. Then, I just realized, I forgot about the bug when I release the theme. I should also include a note for the users. So, here is a way to solve it.

I think you can find this easily now. But I still think that a post of this is needed. Well, the new Wordpress 2.5 is having some good improvement in both functionality and layout. The new method to handle images upload is also very nice. But since it is good, it can’t be any error in using it. Most of us encounter problems uploading images, getting stucked with error messages similar to the following:

HTTP Error
An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later.

If you found the errors above when uploading an image. Don’t worry, here is what you need to do:

Step 1

Download .htaccess and open it with text editor. If there isnt any .htaccess file, create one.

Step 2

Copy and paste the following codes.


<IfModule mod_security.c>
<Files async-upload.php>
SecFilterEngine Off
SecFilterScanPOST Off
</Files>
</IfModule>

Step 3

Save, and upload the .htaccess file to replace the existing file. Now you should be able to upload image without any problem. Cheers!

Wow, means you’re not using wordpress anymore? However, there is still some reason to use it for certain website cheer up!

Yes, same exact problem. I finally had to copy the original DB, link the new installation to the orig DB then let Wordpress update the DB and that solved the jumbling or categories problem. But it still will not load the Manage Posts page, or offer the categories to select as your write a new post. This is easily a STRONG reason to consider leaving WP behind.

Hi there. May I know you upgrade from which version?

Last time I did experienced the same pain like you when upgrade wordpress. I think is 2.2.3. All my categories screwed up. I need to access to database and do some manual changes. And also re-categorize all the posts.

So far, my advice is, backup before you do any upgrade or database modification. Cheers!

To answer your original question of any bugs…
I have about 1200 posts and after upgrading to 2.5.1 WP really struggles. My Manage -> Posts page wont load, the categories don’t display for me to pick when writing a new post. Any word on an update or fix?
